How To Make Raw Muffins

  • 1 Cup Almonds
  • 1 Cup Cashews
  • 2 Tbspn Raw Honey or Date Paste
  • 1 tspn Almond or Vanilla Extract
  • Cinnamon To Taste
  • 1 Banana

Soak almonds and cashews overnight, or for at least 12 hours, being sure to rinse every few hours if possible. Obviously if you do it overnight you will not be rinsing, so it would be a good idea to put the nuts in the fridge while soaking. The purpose behind soaking is to break down the digestive inhibitors. I will post more on this in future blogs.

Add all the ingredients into your food processor, blend, pulse, blend, pulse, go crazy with it! Whoa, not too crazy! Stop blending just before it turns into a pate texture. You are looking for a bit of fluffy-ness!

Scoop out of the processor, add to your muffin cups or shape into a muffin or patty like shape, (or hearts or Mickey Mouse heads), and put into your dehydrator, or if you prefer you can eat them as is. If you are going to dehydrate them I suggest you set it at 130 degrees or so for the first hour, then bring it down to 115 degrees for the next two or three hours.

Top with your favorite toppings and....

Book Review: Water The Ultimate Cure by Steve Meyerowitz

Probably the most important health building substance on the planet that almost everyone I meet is deficient in is water, and after reading this you may find out you are no exception. This book has really been an eye opener on just how important water is to our health, so lets get right to it!

I have read a few other books written by Steve "The Sproutman" Meyerowitz and am always amazed at how simply he is able to lay out the information he is trying to present, and do it in a way that just about anyone can understand. All of his books make for a quick read, and this one is no exception.

The forward on this book is done by someone who is in my opinion the authority on water used for transforming health, Dr F. Batmanghelidj MD. He has treated many different ailments using basically water alone for many years, and has done it quite successfully. He also has written a fantastic book on water called "Your Body's Many Cries For Water".

Water really is the stuff of life! If your not completely convinced of that yet then ask yourself a question. Why do we keep looking for it everywhere we go? Why does NASA spend so much effort and money every day just to find a hint of it on other planets? We are constantly in search for it. We build houses near it, take vacations to be close to it, are relaxed by the sound of it, and cleanse our bodies in it! Try living without it and you will very quickly find out how important it has become to you!

I want to go over a few of the facts presented in this book that blew me away. He states:

  • By weight we are about 67% water. If this percent drops by even 2% we become fatigued, if by 10% we begin to have significant health problems.
  • Women who drink more than 5 8oz glasses a day may reduce the chance of kidney & bladder cancer by 45%, while men may reduce the chances of prostate & testicular cancer by 32%
  • The average adult contains 40-50 qts of water or 10-13 gallons!
  • Blood = 83% Water
  • Brain = 75% Water
  • Muscle = 75% Water
  • Heart = 75% Water
  • Eyes = 95% Water
  • Lungs = 86% Water
  • Kidneys = 83% Water
  • Bones = 22% Water
  • There are over 75,000 compounds in municipal water from business, agriculture, industry, and consumer homes with more being added on a daily basis.
  • Fluoride, first introduced in municipal water in the 1940's, is currently banned in Sweden, Denmark, and Holland, and abandoned in Belgium and West Germany.
  • America still uses fluoride in our municipal water
  • America has the highest rates in tooth decay in the world!
  • One in six americans drinks water containing excess levels of lead.
To put it plainly we need to start thinking about our water intake more on a daily basis. But how much do we need to drink? You should be drinking at least half of your total body weight in ounces of water.

If you weigh 120 lbs
You drink 60 ounces of water daily

"But I do get that much! I just had a 64 ounce big gulp for lunch!" Hmmm... I hate to burst your bubble but NONE of that really counts for water as far as our body is concerned. When calculating this, you should not add any of your beverages that may contain caffeine or diuretics since they steal water from your body... You may also want to consider adding a few more ounces of water if your salt intake for the day has been high, not to mention potassium. (There is also a section in this book that he goes into detail about how to balance your salt and potassium intakes).

All in all this has been a great read for me, and I know it will be for you too. As stated on the back cover of the book, you will discover why your drinking habits may be the cause and cure of your:

Book Review: The China Study by T. Colin Campbell

This post is in response to a book I have recently read and was simply blown away by. I have been digging into nutrition for the last 3 years or so, and I thought I knew quite a bit about vegetarian nutrition and reasons for being a vegan but this book just gave me more reasons to stay on a vegetarian diet.

T. Colin Campbell is a man that grew up on a dairy farm and thoroughly believed in the American diet and the health benefits derived from this high protein steak and potatoes based meal. However as he did studies on how to feed starving nations and supply them with these high protein diets on the cheap he came across a life changing discovery on the effects of animal based proteins on our bodies. The facts where right in front of his face so he was unable to ignore them. The further he dug into this, the more and more scientific evidences he discovered. The American diet is not all that its cracked up to be.

He mentions a few numbers throughout his book that startled me. Here are just a few:
In the United States
  • 2/3 of the population is overweight
  • 1/4 are obese
  • Over 1/2 the population takes at least prescription drug a week
  • America is ranked 37th in Health Care quality with the cost for health care still rising!
  • Research budget designated by the NIH (National Institute for Health) for nutrition is only about 2%-3% of the total budget, and of this research done the majority of it is on isolated nutritional substance...
  • 12 of 14 case control studies and 7 of 9 cohort studies have observed a positive association for some measure of dairy products and prostate cancer

The thing I love most about this book is that everything he says is well explained and referenced. He seriously has about 20 pages or so of references indexed to scientifically back up everything he is laying out to you. Don't believe him? Look it up for yourself he says. :)

The real bulk of this book takes place on a localized study done on the cancer occurrence in China and the dietary information of what these people ate, habits they had, water they consumed ect. This info was taken and shipped to over two dozen laboratories all over the world to determine the effects of ones diet on the appearance of cancer. The results are startling!

I strongly suggest that if you are trying to find a reason to take your health to the next level to get this book. It is a very scientifically based method of determining the ultimate benefits of a vegetarian diet, and the sour results of a diet based around a high animal protein intake.

Become Responsible!

I am also sure that I am leaving out some other legal quotations to keep my rear end safe from big brother... That being said, this particular safety statement may be updated as needed... Become Responsible!

This blog is mostly for my family and friends who are in need of the information that I will be posting, and for those of you that I have meet through networking and work in general who need to know more about how to better your current state of health. What you will see throughout the manifestation of this site is a gathering of information that I think you might find useful and hopefully may be able to implement in your own lives to live a fuller and happier life now and on into the new system of things.

First things first. The most important piece of information on transforming YOUR health is that the ONLY person responsible for your health is YOU! No one can make you healthy. You must become responsible over your own health. I can't make you eat superfoods, salads, fruits or vegtables. I can't make you like them either. I can tell you that these are a few of the keys to optimal health, but you yourself must take action and consume them. Ask yourself a few questions: "Is how I feel now enjoyable? Do I want to continue to feel this way the rest of my life? Who else am I affecting with my health, and how will it effect them in the future?"

Focus on that last question. YOUR health affects everyone around you, particularly your close family and friends. Have you ever seen someone you loved in a terrible state of ill health and it just made you feel awful? Maybe you were worried "sick" over them to the point of actually becoming "sick". How we feel, think and act has a profound global effect on those we are surrounded by on many levels. I will mention more about this throughout the days to come.

My hopes are to use this as a means to help those closest to me, and to also be able to reach out to those I've never met before and be able to transform their lives just the same.

There are quite a few websites out there to get informational books, foods, and supplements to implement into your health regime and lifestyle, but the best one that I have personally found is They have just about everything for your raw food and general health needs.
